Insurance Council of Texas Announces Kim Yelkin of Foley & Lardner as the 2023 Raymond Mauk Leadership Award Recipient

AUSTIN, TX – June 13, 2023 - The Insurance Council of Texas (ICT) proudly announces Kimberly A. Yelkin, formerly a partner with Foley & Lardner, and long-time insurance industry lawyer and lobbyist, as the posthumous recipient of the 2023 Raymond Mauk Leadership Award. Ms. Yelkin, whose remarkable contributions to the Texas property and casualty insurance industry are highly regarded, will be honored for her outstanding achievements. The award will be presented at the 2023 ICT/AFACT Property & Casualty Insurance Symposium, where it will be accepted on behalf of Ms. Yelkin by her daughter, Chloe.

The Raymond Mauk Leadership Award, established in 1998, is a prestigious recognition presented annually to an individual who has made a significant impact on the Texas property and casualty insurance industry. As the representative for the Texas property and casualty industry, the Insurance Council of Texas believes it is essential to acknowledge the outstanding contributions of those who have played a pivotal role in shaping and propelling our industry as a vital piece of the economic engine that drives this great state.

We are honored to recognize the exemplary contributions of Kim Yelkin and present her with the 2023 Raymond Mauk Leadership Award,” said Albert Betts, Executive Director of the Insurance Council of Texas. “Her dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment to the Texas property and casualty insurance industry have left an indelible mark. Ms. Yelkin's legacy will continue to inspire future leaders and serve as a testament to her remarkable achievements."

The award is named in honor of former Texas Fire Commissioner Raymond Mauk, who dedicated his long and distinguished career to advancing the Texas property and casualty industry. Commissioner Mauk held various leadership positions within the industry, and his steadfast leadership and persistence were instrumental in establishing the Texas Insurance Checking Office in 1935, which continues to serve our industry to this day.

Past recipients of the Raymond Mauk Leadership Award have encompassed a diverse group of individuals from different backgrounds within the industry. The honorees have included active or retired company employees, regulators, agents, elected officials, and educators, all of whom have made significant contributions to the Texas property and casualty insurance landscape.

Kim Yelkin's exceptional achievements, expertise, and dedication to the industry make her a truly deserving recipient of this esteemed award.
